Treasures from the Rockaways!

Huge moon snail, assorted bits of glass (including blue, purple, turquoise, teal, and vivid green!) plus bits of ceramic, a really round rock, and some cool shells.

These are fossils captured in what Phil calls "gardener's clay"--he says they are about 70 million years old (young by fossil standards but pretty darn old!). The top and left ones are crabs; the others are scallop shells (I think). I'm sure they have more technical names but I don't know them...yet.

Heading for the Rockaways with Phil Sunday morning...

Did my usual celebration with my students, teaching them to eat with chopsticks--using popcorn and cheese balls! Yum-yum! Will upload a photo tomorrow from work....
